Automaton

$8,000.00

“Automaton” is part of an ongoing exploration into the relationship between beads and light. The different components of “Automaton” have varying degrees of transparency, and when the sculpture is lit from within, different beads give back different qualities and degrees of light. There are clear glass cabochons set into the body of the sculpture that have their own relationship with the light, separate from the beads that hold them in place.

The sculpture is lit with an LED puck light with a replaceable battery. It is turned on and off by screwing and unscrewing the two halves of the light.

“Automaton”, 2023. 6” x 7” x 7”. Seed beads, wire, metal beads, glass cabochons, LED light and battery, monofilament.
