Star Crab

$700.00

The word “carcinisation” describes the tendency of the natural world towards crabs. Animals outside of the crab family evolve into crab shapes so often that there has to be a special word to describe this phenomenon. This sculpture is another addition to my particular crab family.

The smallest of my crab family, this little guy is barely 3” across. Its legs are quite stiff and it stands upright very well. Its tentacles are also rather stiff and curl about wildly.

The “Star Crab” contains a special element: glow in the dark beads. The crown, the eyes, and the tips of the tentacles all glow blue in the dark once they’ve been charged from a light source.

“Star Crab”, 2022. 1.5” x 2.5” x 2.5”. Seed beads, monofilament.
