Tulip Lariat Necklace
There is a house in Minneapolis known as “the tulip house”. It’s an ordinary house, but the entire yard from the sidewalks to the front door is carpeted in tulips. There’s no order to it, it’s just a riot of tulips in every color imaginable. There are tulips all over the city, but the tulip house more than anything else gave me the inspiration for the pieces that became the Tulip Collection. These necklaces are modeled after bolo ties and lariats. They are composed of three rings in descending size with a 20” rope of beadwork. The rope loops through the smallest ring and is held in place with a carved stone butterfly.
There are two necklace options to choose from. The Warm color scheme features rings in yellow, red, and pink, with a bright kelly-green rope and a large (1” across) butterfly. The three rings together measure 6” in length, with 20” of rope and an extra 2” of butterfly.
The Cool color scheme features rings in black, purple, and white, with a dark forest-green rope and a small (0.5” across) butterfly. The three rings together measure 5” in length, with 20” of rope and 1.5” of butterfly attachment.
